My name Chris Burrett, and I’m a passionate, enthusiastic and versatile musician with a broad musical education, background and experience encompassing composition, music production, directing, performing and teaching.

Music has always been an integral part of my life. From an early age, I played brass and percussion.  Over the years I have played with numerous bands and ensembles and am currently the Principal Percussionist with the BBC Concert Band. I also drum for the Shambles Big Band, and for my Jazz Quintet ‘Kings Jazz’. I am also an experienced and versatile vocal performer, both as a soloist and in ensembles, stage shows, chamber choir and traditional church choir. I lead my own vocal ensemble, Beati (see 'Beati' page).

I have a passion for Musical Theatre. I am currently Musical Director of the Square Drama Circle and enjoy working with the talented team of cast and musicians. We have staged a number of musical productions, including ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’, and several pantomimes such as ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘The Wizard of Oz’.

In October 2019, the group gave the premier performance of my original musical ‘The Legend of Troy’. I wrote the script, music and lyrics for my concept of an original musical stage show, inspired by traditional musical theatre.

My next show 'The Golden Days', an original jazz musical, will premiere in late 2023.

I have worked extensively as a peripatetic music teacher and have enjoyed providing instrumental, vocal, composition and theory training for children and adults of all ages.

​

I studied music composition and percussion in London for 3 years, and graduated with a First-Class Degree with Honours, with Additional Credit awarded for achieving outstanding results across the full spectrum of modules.

I am now working as a freelance musician, specialising in composition, and am always seeking to expand my musical horizons.
